Pearls you want to wear vs. the others.

You know the ones. You got them for graduation. Or confirmation. Or from your Great Aunt.
Perfectly nice and respectable. Neatly graduated in length and strung on a silk cord.
You wore them to that wedding that had the full Mass. You put them on for that party, but took them off before you left. They have been in the bottom of your jewelery box ever since.

Let me introduce you to the antidote to the stuffy string of pearls. Knotted on brown waxed linen cord, in a riot of size and length variations. Organic and lush, and just a little bit wild. Like they rose fully formed from the Ocean and wrapped themselves casually around your neck.

Dress them up or dress them down, they don't care. Whatever the occasion, they will not let you down- Just remember the last on, first off rule.( Pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off, to protect them from the chemicals in perfumes, makeup, etc.)

The other string may resent the heavy rotation these will get, but hey, bivalve life isn't always fair.

  1. I love, love, love the pink pearl strand I got from you today, Peg! And here I am in my jammies, and I still have on the necklace. Love it!

  2. I love your poetic writing, makes me want to pile on the pearls (and shop at Fini!). xo lala
