The minute we saw the hats that Migmar designed, we were in love.
They looked like nothing else we had seen. Many of them have cashmere liners in them to keep you warm and comfortable, so they were also engineered like no others.

But when we learned his Family and friends in Nepal hand knit the the hats in their homes, we knew they deserved a special place in Fini.

Rob Ryan jumps the pond, lands in Fini!

There is no reason you should be familiar with the works of Rob Ryan. The Cyprus born paper cut artist with a tiny jewel box shop/ studio in London seems to like to keep things small-ish.

He has an Etsey shop where you can buy a few odd tiles,some laser cuts, and and some original works. That's about it.

That is until he agreed to license some of his images onto ceramics with British company Wilde and Wolf. They were available at first only to the English market. But I waited, and pestered, and cajoled the reps until confirmation was given they would be released in the States.

The results are beautiful. Extraordinary images placed on ordinary objects you will have the pleasure of using day in, day out.

Plus, for the cost of one of his studio fired tiles, you can have a set of four of his licensed plates.

It's a great way to familiarize yourself with an artist who freely admits to being "unashamedly sentimental". Start here. I guarantee you will fall in love, just like me.

I have a vague recollection of seeing these draped over my Grandparents' cut crystal booze decanters.

It was a necessity, because out of their original bottles, Gin looks like Vodka, and Bourbon just like Whiskey.

Plus, it was super classy in a Hugh Hefner kind of way.

I have had the bag pictured below for seven years. I have carried books, paperwork, my lunch, my laptop, and my dog in it. All at the same time.

The bottom is as secure as the day I got it. The straps are still sturdy.

This year they have tarted up the classic with a terrific pair of orange handles, and woven a bit of orange straw through the body.

Same here, except with a sunny yellow.

The French have known about these ridiculous bags for years.

One of the designs we are liking quite a bit is a style they call "Doily".
Can you guess why they call it Doily? Are you familiar with the word "doily"?
O.K., I have written it and said it too many times in my head, and it sounds weird.

It looks like a lace pattern done over the top in one of the four colors pictured.
Quartz battery operated, leather band, great warranty. Eighty dollars.

There is something about a bold photographic image of a horse that really gets me, lately.

Wall sized prints are popping up in the hippest homes in design magazines. Profile, three quarter, or dead on stares of these noble beasts. I can't turn away when I see them.

Dutch company Present Time has done a great rendition-a glass backed photo image that doubles as a timepiece. Hang one on your wall and daydream about cantering through a field, collecting a ribbon for "best seat", or chatting up Mr. Ed.
A very current, very cool statement.

It was out of stock for months, I do not exaggerate. We waited all summer long, our heels dry and cracked. We waited through the Fall, our elbows patchy and ashen. We hoped it might arrive for the holidays, in time to rub an entire stick over our entire carcass, dried out by central heating. Nope.

There is a lot of texture going around this season. Nubby knits, over sized herringbones, chunky wovens. It seems only natural that this would be the year leather got in on the action.

Heavy duty texture. Knobby, irregular, folded, pleated, creased leather.

We like to call it Elephant hide, but it is actually tumbled cowhide.

Let me introduce you to the antidote to the stuffy string of pearls. Knotted on brown waxed linen cord, in a riot of size and length variations. Organic and lush, and just a little bit wild. Like they rose fully formed from the Ocean and wrapped themselves casually around your neck.
